biometrics club

Biometrics might verywell be devouring my heart and soul and everything in between. It's really not THAT bad, but it's pretty bad. It's a challenge. I don't know how I'm going to make it through Genetics alive!

We have a test tomorrow, so I went to this incredibly useles TA hour. Usually TA hours are at least decent, but the girl who was doing this one answers EVERY question with another question. I get that sometimes people who are teaching use this as a technique to make people understand the materials themselves... but... Well, I asked a question like "I don't understand what these graphs are illustrating. I know that they're showing interactions between two factors of an ANOVA, but can you make what that difference is clearer?" and she'd reply like "Hmmm... Interaction, what does that SOUND like?" or "Well this graph is showing interaction between Factor A and Factor B, see it says it right here". Well fuck, of course I know that. And what does it SOUND like? What the hell sort of question is that? It's the night before an 8am midterm and she's flipping asking us more questions than we're asking her. "Hmmm, inter-group, what does that SOUND like, how does it make you FEEL what are you THINKING" (ok she didn't really say that, but it was close, and even a psychologist or psychiatrist couldn't be that specific about analyses of statistics.

I went to a study session in Mauer-Link and everyone was perplexed at me. Like I had this vive of respect because they all thought my cheat-sheet was miraculous or something. I swear, it just looks pretty because of the type of pen I use. I spent the next while letting people gawk at the highlighted words that were bolded on our worksheets "But how did you KNOW to look in the statistical dictionary??..."

I think I'm oversimplifying everyone to seem really stupid.
